Pondicherry

Pondicherry | August 2015

A sleepy coastal town on the Bay of Bengal, Pondicherry is the perfect spot for a chic beach getaway. A French possession until 1954, the colonial heritage is apparent in the grid system(!) and brightly colored villas that evoke a Caribbean vibe along the waterfront. The main attraction in Pondicherry is Paradise Beach, and beach we did. With its location on the steamy South Indian coast, there are very few places on earth where I have appreciated air conditioning more but the city is a true joy to walk through and haggle for local wares.
